The fleet angle is the angle between the first fixed sheave and the flange of the winch.

As a rule, the spooling angle should be between ¼° and 1 ¼°. At the same time, however, the design and speed of the cable must be taken into account. In borderline cases, please contact our specialists.

In the case of single-layer wound cable drums, the spooling angle of 3° should not be exceeded.

The preload is the load on the cable at the cable drum. As a rule, it should be at least 2% of the breaking load or 10% of the working load. Subject to compliance with the technical requirements of a LEBUS system, any wire rope winch system can be retrofitted with a LEBUS groove.

If the minimum preload is not met, isolated cable loops may be wound on loosely. This can lead to the cable being nicked and damaged during subsequent spooling.

Steel grade ASTM A-36is used as standard. However, special steels such as ASTM A572-50 and ASTM A516-70 are also increasingly being used. If required, we can also supply systems made of aluminium or fiberglass.

The D:d ratio describes the relationship between the drum diameter at the center of the 1st cable layer (PCD = Pitch Circle Diameter) = D and the cable diameter = d.
